These are the rules you must follow when posting (IC) In Character on this site. You don't necessarily have to follow them in (OOC) Out of Character sections of this site, nor in the chat box.
SECTION I Minimum Requirements
When role-playing, the minimum requirement of words on this site is 300. Now, if you are uncertain as to how many words you have in your post, there is a convenient word counter down the page. Just copy and paste your entire post into that word counter and click on the [<] button, and it will count the words for you.
Each post must be in either first person, or third person point of view. Second person is not banned, but it is highly looked down upon. If you are not sure which point of view they are, then I'll explain.
- First person- I walked into the camping grasping a sparrow tight in my jaws, and with a proud smirk of satisfaction I saw that I was the first to return from hunting.
- Second person- You saw, with delight, that not only did ShadowClan win SnakeRocks from ThunderClan, but you also saw the look of defeat in the ThunderClan leader's eyes as he fled across the new border.
- Third person- As soon as she walked out of camp, she was aware of all the new scents and smells that came from the forest.
Be aware that some people make a unique post containing a mix of two, or all three of the point of views. You are allowed to do this. When typing in first person and second person be sure that the name of your cat is at the top of each post so the other member knows who is being role-played.
Your post should be broken up into paragraphs so it is not all jumbled together. Paragraphs help make the post easier to read, and if you're look at length, they can show up to make the post longer than it is. Paragraphs are anywhere from 5-9 simple sentences, or 3-5 detailed, descriptive long sentences.
SECTION II Content
This should be a fairly short section because I don't have many limits on what content you include in your post. But one thing I do not want to see is human swears. In the warriors series, they have a collection of their own, different swear words that are not like ours. Words like hell are places made up by human imagination, based on the religion of some of our species. The warrior cats have no reason to know of our places. Hell for them is the "dark forest" and heaven is "StarClan". The only word they may know is dam, for a beaver's nest, but you are not allowed to use that word as a swear. These are a few words that may take the place of our swears.
- Mouse~brain- Typically if a warrior does something dumb or reckless, they are called a mouse-brain.
- Mouse~dung- More of an insult than mouse-brain, it is used to insult a cat usually from another clan. It may take place of one of our words if we do something wrong and need to shout out. i.e "damn" when we fail a text, or quiz.
- Fox~dung- A huge insult in the warrior's series. It compares a cat to the waste secreted by a fox and is highly offensive.
- Crow~food- Typically for calling someone worthless or a waste of life.
Those are the most commonly used insults in the warriors series. Know any more from the books? Have at it in your posts.
As far as other content goes, I have no restrictions as long as you keep the warrior's perspective strictly warriors-known. They do not know what barbed wire is, so they wouldn't say 'barbed wire fence'.
SECTION III Layout
The layout for your role-play posts should be visible and neat, so everyone can read it. There is only one skin at a time on the website because that's all the coding will allow. So the layout of your posts should all have a readable text color that is visible with this skin. Some colors that are visible are...
- Red
- Navy
- Blue
- Black
- Grey? Probably not for a long post. It can be difficult to read.
- Brown
Those are just some basic colors that can be found using the color drop down box above. You may use hex codes, but I was just giving examples of easy to reach colors.
For coding in your posts, you may have up to three blockquote tags, [three blockquotes looks exactly like each content for the sections in the rules threads] a center tag, a right tag, and/or a size tag. The size cannot be more than 3 and less than 1. If you would like to give your post a table instead, that is fine too. The table shouldn't be any wider than 475 pixels or it will be manually resized. Anything bigger than 475 would stretch the forum.
SECTION IV God-modding, power-playing, and double posting.
God-modding, double posting, nor power-playing, is tolerated on this site. It is annoying, arrogant, selfish, and takes away the fun in role-playing. Here are some examples of all three. for those of you who don't know what it is.
- God~modding- Darkfur smiled as he watched his enemy. He knew one blow would take out this weakling. Without waiting for the cat's response, he lunged forward, his muscles flexing on his broad shoulders. The other cat didn't even have time to react as Darkfur plunged his fangs into his throat. The tom fell to the ground, dead.
- Power~playing- First poster: Blackfur glanced around to check if a clan mate was around. It looked like he was alone. He turned and padded through the gorse tunnel, then sat down outside to wash.
Second poster: Mosstail looked up as she saw Blackfur leaving the camp. He looked like he was alone, so she finished her mouse quickly and followed him out. "Hey Blackfur," she meowed, dipping her head in greetings. "Wanna go hunting?" When he nodded she turned and padded towards SunningRocks, and heard him follow her there.
- Double posting- First person: Blackfur padded up the side of the hollow of his camp, glancing back at the sleeping clan behind him. No one was around. He turned and padded to the moorland.
First person, second post: Blackfur saw a rabbit and pounced, snapping it's neck.
For the god-modding example. You may not kill, permanently lame, or seriously wound a cat without the other member's permission. You may not autohit without the member's permission. Give your enemy a chance to dodge. In vice-versa, you cannot dodge every blow. Your cat has flaws, and it would be boring to post with a perfect cat.
For the power-playing example. First poster did. The second poster did not wait for the other member to post with Blackfur's reaction, and she decided it upon herself that he automatically would say yes. She played another member's character that way.
For the double-posting example, Blackfur posted twice in a row without another member to respond to the thread. If you want to add something to your post, and no one has replied, just modify the original post.
