Ceremonies

These are the ceremonies that are used by leader's in clan meetings.

DEPUTY CEREMONIES

"I say these words before the body of Sunfur, so that her spirit may hear and approve my choice. Blackstripe will be the new deputy of RiverClan!"

When a deputy dies, the leader has until moonhigh to chose the new deputy and announce the name to the clan. At the end of the ceremony, the new deputy is congratulated, and the old deputy will stay in the clearing until morning for a vigil. Then it will be buried, and the new deputy will begin the new tasks.

APPRENTICE CEREMONIES

"By naming apprentices, we show that WindClan will survive and remain strong. Whitekit, from now on your will be known as Whitepaw. Darktail, you are ready for an apprentice. You will be Whitepaw's mentor."

Keep in mind that the ending and beginning words may change slightly. The leader may open the ceremony in a different way, and explain the reason why that warrior was given that apprentice. After the ceremony, the new apprentice and his/her mentor touch noses and are welcomed by the clan. The apprentice and warrior begin training that day.

WARRIOR CEREMONIES

"I, Redstar, leader of ShadowClan, call upon my warrior ancestors to look down upon this apprentice. He has worked hard to understand the ways of your noble code, and I commend him to you as a warrior in his turn. Smallpaw, do you promise to uphold the warrior code, and to protect and defend your clan, even at the cost of your life?"

"I do."

"Then by the powers of StarClan, I'll give you your warrior name. Smallpaw, from this moment you will be known as Smallfoot. StarClan honors you Quick-wittiness and good spirit, and we welcome you as a full warrior of ShadowClan."

Once the ceremony is over, the new warrior is welcomed by his/her clan mates. That night the new warrior stands in silent vigil, watching over the clan.

ELDER CEREMONIES

"Lightfur, is it your wish to give up the name of warrior, and go to join the elders?"

"It is."

"Your clan honors you and all the service you have given us. I call upon StarClan to give you many seasons of rest."

After the ceremony the elder is welcomed and his/her nest is made by the apprentice's in the elders den. Elder's are taken care of primarily by the apprentices.
